Virat Kohli Set To Tour West Indies for the full tour which includes 3 T20 Internationals, 3 one-day internationals and 2 Test matches from August 3 to September 3.
Unlike what was reported earlier, it is now confirmed Virat Kohli will travel to the West Indies for the entire duration of the tour. Kohli is acutely disappointed with India’s semi-final defeat in the 2019 Cricket World Cup and it is understood he wants to start the process of turning things around for the team from the tour of the West Indies.
Therefore, Kohli has informed the selectors he will travel to West Indies for the shorter formats matches as well as the Test matches.
Last month, it was reported Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah would be rested for the T20I and ODI series.
Kohli has been playing non-stop since India’s tour of Australia. He was rested for the final 2 ODIs and the T20I series in New Zealand before he returned to lead the side for the home ODI series against Australia.
After that, Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League and India in World Cup 2019.
India were one of the pre-tournament favourites and stormed to the last-4 as table toppers. However, they lost the semi-final to New Zealand in Manchester.
After the Word Cup heartbreak, India will shift focus to the tour of the West Indies which starts with 2 T20Is in Florida on August 3 and 4.
The 3rd T20I will be played in Providence on August 6. The same venue will host the 1st of 3 ODIs on August 8 before the 2nd ODI is played at Port of Spain on August 11. The final ODI will also be played at Port of Spain on August 14.
The 2 Test matches will be played at North Sound from August 22 to 26 and in Kingston from August 30 to September 3.
