Bio

West Indies have been well-known for producing young T20I talents but Roston Chase was no similar to other Caribbean players. Batting lower down the order, Chase is a right-arm off-break bowler who found his maiden breakthrough in the longest format of the game.

Chase made his Test debut in July 2016 against India and was quick to justify his position in the squad. In only his second Test venture, Chase smashed a ton and grabbed a 5-wicket haul against a strong Indian side. He was the fourth West Indian to achieve this remarkably rare feat. In the following year, Chase struck two centuries during their three-match home Test series against Pakistan. Unfortunately, his hard-fought second ton arrived in a losing cause where he was left stranded at the non-striker's end, and Pakistan wrapped up the game in the penultimate over.

Showcasing some brilliant performances at the Test format, Chase was handed his maiden ODI opportunity in June 2017 against Afghanistan.

Although he remained in-and-out of the ODI squad, he has regularly featured in the West Indies Test side since 2017. Roston was at his absolute best during their home series against England in January 2019. Scoring a crucial 54 in the first innings, Roston improvised his statistics by racking up a brilliant 8-wicket haul in the fourth innings of the game and left the England batting line-up stunned.

Chse failed to replicate his performances in the ODI setup and thus missed out on a crucial 2019 World Cup opportunity. Roston has the potential to become an all-format player, and the cricketing fraternity will be waiting to witness his improvement in the limited-over formats of the game.
