After England handed the Kiwi’s a crazy World Cup final loss, New Zealand is set to play their first series after the World Cup against Sri Lanka in this August-September.
The Kiwi’s announced their 15 man squad for 2 test matches to be played in the series along with 3 T20I. Kane Williamson will lead the team as captain.
New Zealand to play 3 spinners in spin-friendly surface of Sri Lanka, Mitchell Santner will lead the spin attack along with William Somervile and Ajaz Patel, both helped New Zealand to register a test series win against Pakistan. Talking about the spinner Ish Sodhi hasn’t been selected for the series.
“Playing three spinners is an option in Sri Lankan conditions, and we believe this group provides the best variations and skill mix on offer, England were playing three spinners against Sri Lanka on their successful visit there last year, and the slow bowlers also dominated the previous series against South Africa.” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said.
As for the pace attack Matt Henry misses out as Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner and De Grandhomme selected as the pace option.
