It was nothing new for England as they proceeded with their repulsive spat Ben Stokes 2021-22. Limping along the five-match series, the Three Lions are remaining in an absolute necessity dominate match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Notwithstanding, they didn’t get the necessary beginning. Batting first in the Boxing Day conflict, the Three Lions were packaged out for an insignificant 185 as the opposing group hitters couldn’t exhibit application in the difficult track.
While Joe Root top-scored for England with a 50, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow neglected to play an effect thump in the wake of getting begins. Talking about Stokes, the left-gave player hammered 25 off only 60 conveyances. While many figured the southpaw attempted to exhibit opposition, previous Australian commander Ricky Ponting isn’t content with Stokes’ methodology.
Ben Stokes hasn’t made his quality felt
Prominently, Ben Stokes has never completed a Test series with a lower strike-rate than his sign of 29.50 in Ashes 2021-22. Ponting is disillusioned by something similar. “He’s looked super cautious. He hasn’t appeared as though the large, genuinely forceful presence at the wrinkle that resistance groups have dreaded to bowl to in other series,” Ponting told cricket.com.au.
“You can get why – the batting conditions haven’t been simple in any game and he’s facing some great bowlers. Yet, I think assuming you simply pause for a minute or two and stand by, and don’t come down on extraordinary bowlers, they will get you out,” he added.

Further clarifying why Stokes’ absence of plan isn’t helping England, Ponting refered to the case of his playing days. “We generally used to say in groups that I played in that the better the bowler, the more dangers you needed to take as a hitter, since you just don’t get terrible balls. You must figure out how to bounce on anything that is somewhat awful, pivot the strike however much you can,” he added.
Ben Stokes, England currently need to work out of their skin to skip back in the challenge. Australia, because of England’s 185, completed Day 1 at 61/1, decreasing the shortage to 124 runs. Subsequently, England need to limit the Aussies to an average complete to remain in the challenge.
